It's all about the interactive map. You can move the map and zoom the map as you like, properties that are within the map area will be shown. You can click on any property marker to show a pop up. Click on a property in the popup to show the property's full page. To the left of the map is display of Featured Properties (hidden on mobile). At the top of the map is a toolbar with some buttons for map/satellite, look around, draw, and a tally of the property types. As you zoom the map in/out, the dots will change size to provide a better visualization. As the map is zoomed way out, the icons transition into more of a heatmap appearance showing the density of properties as opposed to individual dots which would obscure the map details. At the bottom of the page is is the toolbar.
Filters
The Filter tools deserves a little more explanation as there are a lot of things to fiddle with. First and foremost, the properties displayed are limited to those which are inside the boundaries of the map and any map shapes. In addition, filters further refine the properties shown.
The Filter popup has 4 tabs (WHAT, WHERE, WHO, MORE). Each tab has various things you can apply. When you have made some changes to the filters, just click the APPLY FILTER button to apply the filter. The map, dots, and featured properties will adjust to show only properties that fit your criteria. The RESET button sets the filter back to it's default (sort of blank) state.
First, on the WHAT tab, you choose either Commercial or Residential properties. After that, all other filters are optional. For the most part, all of the filter attributes are AND'ed together. For example if you choose Commercial, then choose Retail, then enter a sale price, the resulting will be something like "Show me all properties that are Commercial AND Retail AND and For Sale at this price".
WHAT tab...
- what kind? - you can select one or more kinds (property types or sub-types). Select as many as you want. Leave empty for any/all kinds.
- what price? - click on the button and enter either a min or max or both. Lease also lets you choose a lease type.
- what size? - click on the button and enter either a min or max or both.
- what else are you looking for? - this is sort of a a free form search. Enter a term or phrase and then hit enter or tab. You can enter multiple word/phrases. These are OR'ed together for example if you enter two words (Boat Dock) (Gated) then the search engine will look for properties having Boat Dock OR Gated.
- sort by - select how you want the featured properties sorted. You can also sort by clicking the ... button at the top of the Featured Properties list.
WHERE tab...
- properties in and around... - a collection of shapes that have been drawn on the map. These shapes act like geo fences and limit the properties to only properties that are inside/outside the fence(s).
- You can edit the name of the shape so it is more meaningful.
- A shape can either include (+) or exclude (-) properties. Click the +/- button to toggle.
- You can have more than one shape on the map. If there are more than one then think of the includes as being OR'ed together and the excludes as being AND'ed together. To illustrate, image you have four shapes on the map, two includes and two excludes, the result of which is "show me properties which are inside (shape A+ OR shape B+) AND outside (shape C- AND shape D-)".
- You add shapes to the map by...
- using the draw tool on the map's top toolbar
- using the looking for somewhere? search box on the Filters' WHERE tab.
- looking for somewhere? - start typing the name of a place i.e. state, county, urban area, cit, zip, address, point of interest. Choose something from the dropdown and it will be added in the above properties in and around.
- Check the nearest box to favor looking for places that are near to the center of map viewport.
- Use the miles slider to set the default radius of the area around places like points of interest, addresses, etc. which do not really have a area boundary.
WHO tab...
- properties by... - a collection of persons or companies. You can add more than one. If more than one think of them as OR'ed together.
- looking for someone? - start typing the name of a person or a company and then choose one from the dropdown to add them to the properties by above. You can also search for things like address, city, state, etc.
