RealtyZapp is a very visually rich application especially when it comes to presenting your property listings and your agent page. This requires not only images but good images and lots of them along with uploading file attachments. Each and every file you upload to RealtyZapp goes into a private folder just for you. The file manager lets you view and manage all of your files.
The first thing you need to know is that the File Manager is a powerful tool and you can do great things with it and you can do not so great things with it meaning you can goof up files. So, let us first go over some details about the files and the process of uploading files so you may better understand what you see.
- Typically, you upload using pages other than the file manager page i.e. listing, agent profile, designs, blasts, etc. pages.
- If the uploaded file is very large, it is resized down so it will perform well and yet still look good.
- A smaller thumbnail (png) version will be created and stored in a subfolder.
- When you upload a file, the file name is preserved where possible. Try to avoid file names with characters other than (a-z), (A-Z), (0-9), ( .-_ ). A space is allowed but try to avoid it.
- File Manager appears in more than one place. The Dashboard - Files page is just one place. Deigns and Balsts also employ the File Manager as a tool. File Manager provides you one or more tabs. Which tabs you see depends on where you are using File Manager.
- On the Files page, the File Manager shows you two tabs, My Files and Stock Images.
- Other tabs include Icons and Custom URL
My Files tab
My Files are all of the images and files that you have uploaded to the RealtyZapp server. For example, when you upload photos on the listing post page, the photos are uploaded to the RealtyZapp server and appear in My Files.
You can sort the files by either file name, size, or created and you can choose the sort direction.
You can Search for files. This is case-insensitive contains search. For example, AbC will return both ABCDEF.png and the_abc_file.pdf.
You can also search for Photos and Files associated with particular listings. The search will look at the following listings' attributes...
- Listing Name
- Street Address
- Photos - title, description, tagline1, tagline2
- Files - title, description
Uploading files
There are two different ways to upload files...
- The entire center of the file manager is a drag-n-drop zone. You can drag and drop one or more file onto the zone. As the file(s) are uploading, you will see a progress indicator and then a success message.
- You can click on the upload files button to open up the standard file picker dialog. Choose on or more files to upload.
Note - if you upload file with the exact same name as a file that already exists, the new file will replace the old file.
Click on a file/image or hover over a file/image and then click on the ... icon in the upper right corner. The file manager's tools popup will appear showing you a higher quality preview. Below the preview there will be some buttons...
- If the file is an image/photo then there will be four color swatches intended as good suggestions for colors that complement the image. As you hover over a swatch, the color will be splashed around the preview image. The idea is to give you color suggestions for when you are creating designs, flyers and blasts.
- edit it - opens a simple yet powerful image editing tool where you can dress up your images i.e. crop, color correct, and much more.
- go to it - opens the file/image in another browser tab.
- download it - downloads a copy of the file/image to your computer.
- duplicate it - creates a duplicate of the file/image and saves it in My Files. You may get a prompt to give the file a name.
